Did you know the Phoenix Zoo helped save the Arabian Oryx from extinction? Operation Oryx started in 1962 to save this special desert grazer. Due in large part to the Phoenix Zoo, the species went from the brink of extinction to a growing population which today sits around 7,000 animals worldwide. The zoo’s conservation program gained it global recognition. Manager of Hoofstock, Liesl King, met with GetOut to tell us all about these incredible creatures and how the zoo was involved in saving the species.
