Feminism In Comics - Radio

Comic books have been a part of many childhoods. Since their first appearance in the US in 1933, they have shaped our imaginations. But for many years comic books have been the domain of white straight men. And for years, most of the comics published reflected their preferences. However, the readership is changing. Just this year a Market Research study show that self-identified comic fans on Facebook grew to over 24 million fans in the US alone. Of that 24 million, nearly 47% were women. Despite the growing female readership, some women find the comic industry still unwelcoming.
